With passionate virtuosity honed since she took her first piano lesson at age 7, Canadian jazz pianist and singer-songwriter Sandra Locklear glides with ease between musical genres and her own compositions. She pairs a rich alto voice with jazz piano stylings refined over a dynamic path that includes overseas and North American tours. As a single mom Sandra travelled on the road with her child while continuing jazz studies at Cornish College of the Arts and the University of Washington, eventually earning music degrees Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude. To satisfy her soul Sandra ventured to Sierre Leone, West Africa to study the roots of jazz. She is a certified music specialist and arts activist. Her Seattle-based company, ThunderEye Music, has produced her CD’s GODDESS RISING and GIRL GONE JAZZ. Sandra performs solo and with a variety of instrumentation.
