Sarah Jacob is a British-born songwriter living in Miami, Florida USA. The second child of Indian-Jewish parents, Sarah is the UN personified, connected to seemingly contradictory cultures. Sarah’s songs are multi-faceted, but the common thread is her deeper-than-normal perspective that question socio-political views, “I use songwriting to dig into those topics that concern me. Copernicus (Damask CD) was written when gay marriage was banned after its brief acceptance in California. I was absolutely amazed that something as non-controversial as love could be portrayed as so controversial. Nature, on the other hand, was written after hurricane Wilma left us without electricity and showed us that man against Nature is nothing but a fantasy. Nature is always in control.” Sarah is a writer first, publishing numerous articles for her work, in magazines and online blogs. “I love to write but songwriting is the most amazing process as I can never write a song without the melody. Once I have a melody, the song writes itself. It is truly a unique process of creation and takes on a life of its own.” Although quite prolific, often writing a song or two a week, songwriting is not Sarah’s full time gig. As well as having a career, she is currently doing her Masters in Liberal Studies and is using that to write a book to help bring awareness to the many disappearing indigenous cultures all over the world. Although, Sarah seems awfully serious, lots of her work is infused with a typically British sense of humor, especially the hidden song on track 13 of the Damask CD.
