Biography

SARAH STANLEY is a singer/songwriter based in Los Angeles. Her band performs regularly at the House of Blues, Cinema Bar, Taix, Farmer’s Market and The Grand Old Echo.

RMC Records is releasing her third CD, “Tuesday Girl,” produced and co-written with critically acclaimed producer Rich McCulley in September. Musicians include Tony Horkins (Grant Langston), Amy Farris (Dave Alvin), Jen Mandel, Dennis Hamm (Kenneth “Baby Face” Edmonds), Adam Marsland (Al Jardin), Adam Aaronson (We Are Scientists), Tommy Rickard (Michelle Shocked), Taras Prodaniuk (Lucinda Williams, Dwight Yoakum) and the late, great Duane Jarvis (Lucinda Williams, Frank Black).

Sarah’s music is no stranger to primetime TV: ABC featured “The Tattoo Song,” “Honor Me,” and “Coffee in the Morning” on its popular show Men in Trees. Lifetime selected “More of Me” (title track) and “The Tree Song” for the Molly Shannon movie More of Me, and HBO’s documentary series Cathouse used her single “All About the Money,” which quickly shot up the iTunes soundtrack charts. Stanley has also written theme songs for several TV pilots, features and short films and her co-write with Neighborhood Bully’s Davey Meshell “Let Me Be Me,” (produced by Mike Chapman) is currently playing on the SuicideGirls website. “Shiner Bock and Vicodin,” a co-write with Grant Langston, is an audience favorite at his shows and will be released in August.

Stanley has been writing songs with or for artists like Divebar, David Serby, Madame Pamita, Dafni, Danny B. Harvey and more. Her debut self-titled CD was produced by Shane McMahon in 2004, and in 2008, Fatoak Records released Stanley’s second CD, “Long Road to Leave You,” which includes guests Jaimie Shuey and Dan Janisch.

Born in Honolulu, Stanley graduated with a degree in Theatre and Film from the University of Hawaii. A prolific playwright, Stanley has written award-winning plays, an original HBO special and is working on a new musical based on a Jane Austen classic. Sarah has been featured in Vogue, The Washington Post, Elle Magazine, GQ, Adweek, NPR, and Variety—often as a voice of her generation.
