Biography

Scott Farquhar is a lifetime Maryland resident and freelance "music geek" in the Baltimore area. He currently resides in The Big Blue Music House in Pikesville, MD where he has a music and lesson studio and instrument repair shop. Scott earned a Bachelor of Science in Music Theory and Composition from Towson University. Print music of original works and arrangements are published by Splunge Music and C.L. Barnhouse. His music has been heard and broadcast locally in Washington D.C. on WAMU, and as far away as KFAI in Minneapolis, and internationally on CKDU in Halifax Nova Scotia.

Scott began "doing the music thing" seriously in high school (c. 1983) where he was active in concert band, marching band, and the pit band for musical theatre productions. Originally a clarinetist (starting at age 10) and bass clarinetist, he began to study piano in college. He has also been known to sing and make noise on numerous other instruments including harmonica, percussion, and mandolin. In addition to musical efforts, Scott is no stranger to the stage or to being behind a microphone doing voiceover work.

Freelance work includes composing, arranging, performing, teaching, and repairing instruments. Scott also produces a collection of Royalty Free Music featuring original works and recordings of classical masterpieces.
