Biography

Selyne Maia is a blues/pop vocalist/pianist & composer. She is an active performer in the GTA, playing local lounges such as The Drake Underground, and The Central. Her music has been described as sexy candy jazz with a pop flavor.

As a disciplined classical pianist for over 17 years, Selyne wanted to take her music to a new level, so she began studying at York University, where she received her Bachelors Degree in Music Performance. Soon after graduating she began studying jazz. Her songwriting style quickly changed from a strict style of pop to a more developed style of blues/pop. Her main influences include Norah Jones, and John Mayer.

Selyne has worked with many well-known artists such as Canadian songwriter and musician Annette Ducharme, 1980s singer/songwriter Deborah Gibson, and actor/producer Joey Lawrence. Selyne has recorded various tracks at some well-known recording studios such as Glenwood Place Studios in Burbank, California where she worked with Gavin MacKillop, a producer/engineer who has produced and engineered tracks for Sarah Mclaughlin, Barenaked Ladies, and the Goo Goo Dolls.

Selyne Maia has had an audience since she was 5 years old, and still draws a crowd. Using her calming voice, and soulful music she captivates her fans leaving them wanting more.
