Shamik is a vocalist and producer based in Vancouver. As a beatboxer and MC, he toured extensively across 15 countries from 2007-2011. His beatboxing style continued to cross over between hip hop and electronica, and he maintained a positive presence through conscious lyrics. His notable career achievements include performing after Thievery Corporation to 10 000 people at Rothbury Festival, 2 BC dates opening for George Benson (with Kellylee Evans) in 2010, opening for Method Man & Redman (with Unkle $am) for 11 dates across Canada in 2008, 14 North America dates with Bassnectar in 2008, 5 vocal performances with Inuit throat singer Tanya Tagaq, and a beatbox tutorial video which has garnered over 100 000 view on Youtube. A lot of Shamik's notoriety in Western Canada came from festival appearances where he demonstrated his ability to make bass heavy beatbox sounds with crisp percussion. Among his festival highlights are Shambhala, Bass Coast, Edmonton Folkfest, Vancouver Island Musicfest (Canada), Colours of Ostrava (Czech Republic), Southbound, Peats Ridge (Australia), Mood Indigo, Sunburn (India), and Dubplate (Philippines). In Vancouver, Shamik has performed at TEDx 2009, New Forms Festival, Vancouver Jazzfest, and the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. He has also done multiple shows with Q-Bert, Kentaro, Sub Swara, Z-Trip, Excision, Beats Antique, Killa Kela, Flying Lotus, Rusko, Mat The Alien, Craze, and The Glitch Mob.

Shamik has released 2 solo albums, 5 EP’s, 3 singles, and one mixtape. He has appeared on releases on East Van Digital, Rottun, Low Motion, Swing Set Sounds, Street Ritual, Atomic Zoo, Bombeatz, and High Chai. Tanya Tagaq also featured Shamik on 3 songs on her Juno nominated Auk album which included Mike Patton of Faith No More, Buck 65, and Jesse Zubot. Shamik and renowned speaker Kevin Carroll were finalists for TED 2012 and presented a live globally streamed talk at TED headquarters in New York. Since early 2012, Shamik has shifted his focus into production, photography, and acting social media manager for Astral Harvest Festival. Stay tuned for several collaborations on various labels worldwide, and a new album in summer 2014.
