Shelter Belt is an eight piece pop band from the US. They are eclectic in style and use a wide array of instruments. They record in their basement, known as the Beltcave. Shelter Belt's newest record, "These Songs were not written by Shelter Belt", was released in September 2010.
"These Songs" is a collection of eight songs reimagined by Shelter Belt. The first seven tracks are studio recordings:
Weary Blues From Waiting (Hank Williams)
Temptation (New Order)
Goodnight Irene (Hank Williams)
All The World Is Green (Tom Waits)
Famous Blue Raincoat (Leonard Cohen)
When You Were Mine (Prince)
I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry (Hank Williams)
The eighth song is a bonus track recorded live at Joslyn Castle in Omaha, Nebraska in March 2008. This recording, featuring solos by NLJ Klosterboer (sax) and Luigi Waites (vibes), is an instrumental take on the Grammy award winning gangsta rap classic "Forgot About Dre" originally performed by Dr. Dre (featuring Eminem).
