Biography

A graduate of the NYC High School of Performing Arts, Oberlin Conservatory and New York University (M.A.) Shirley Kirsten continues to record the cycle of Scarlatti sonatas along with works of the Classical and Romantic Masters. Ms. Kirsten also teaches privately at her studios in California's Central Valley and Bay Area. Over the years, she has appeared as a guest artist and commentator on public radio, and has published numerous piano related articles in the California Music Teacher Magazine, Clavier, The Piano Quarterly and USA today. She has composed two Intermediate level piano albums, Moonbeams and Other Musical Sketches and an anthology of compositions inspired by her students.
