Silje is a quirky-happy-funny-sad artist and songwriter currently living in Oslo. Often compared to Regina Spektor, Kate Bush, Björk and Tori Amos, she also collects inspiration from artists like Kent, Sufjan Stevens, Radiohead, Håkan Hellström and Dave Matthews.
She has spent the last years playing several cities in the UK and Norway. She has among other things played the Liverpool Sound City Festival and The Cavern Club, appeared live on Manchester's ChannelM, the Bob Dylan Festival opening for Elliott Murphy, in Lancaster supporting Vijay Kishore, and in her hometown Steinkjer opening for Anne Grete Preus and Difference.
Silje's music is a heady tincture of rock and pop, spiced with scandinavian folk, punk and a touch of jazz. Some of her songs are really quite pretty, while others are straightforwardly nasty little things. Silje plays the piano and makes up the pretty (or rather nasty) lyrics, and then gets them out to you in a vocal style that is a little like a lot of things, but not really quite like anything else.
