Born in Avellino (Campania - ITALY) in September 1987, Simone Vignola has had his first approach with music at the age of 7 when he started studying electric and fingerstyle guitar till the age of 12.
That’s when he moved on to study bass guitar (with M° Enzo di Somma and later with Antonio de Luise) and later double-bass (with M° Pierluigi Bartolo Gallo and with M° Nicola Buonomo to the present at the music conservatory of Avellino).
A multifaceted and eccentric musician, greatly valued for his technique and creativity, Simone has been playing since he was 13 as a member of numerous local bands. At the age of 16, together with singer/guitarist Carmine Maffei, he formed his own post-dark band called Inseedia, performing at some great Italian Festivals such as M.E.I. 2006, Primo Maggio Tutto L’Anno, Cornetto Free Music, Rock Targato Italia, Rockin, PofiRock, Trimi’s, NZiria, SupeRockFestival and many more. As a member of Inseedia, he published the EP titled “Oltre il muro”, and the LP titled “Secrets from the room” released by Nomadism Records (Audioglobe/Nova Media-Germany/Indietective-Worldwide). Inseedia also make “All that you do” video-clip, song taken from the album as single written by Simone. As a bassist, Simone also collaborates with singer songwriter Kiara Bianco, appearing in her first album called “Anything Around Me” and performing during her live sets. He joined her for her mini-tour in some of the best London clubs (among which the “Barfly” in Camden Town and the “Good Ship” in Kilburn), her live appearances for Radio 1 Rai and as opening act for the renowned Italian band “Avion Travel”. Simone also collaborates with the band “Fluido Ligneo” with which he played some important Italian festivals such as Musicultura, Festival of Ghedi and performed as opening act for some famous Italian artists such as “Elio e le Storie Tese”, “Lino Cannavacciuolo” and many more. Simone also appears in the latest LP by Fluido Ligneo due in May 2009, together with the renowned drummer Agostino Mennella.
Simone has been working as a session musician since 2006 when he joined the renowned Italian jazz saxophonist Daniele Sepe during his theatrical tour - Tribute to Frank Zappa - called “The Perfect Stranger”. In the same year, he has toured as a composer and double-bassist with “Teatro iMOMO’”, a travelling acting company with which he played some important festivals and “street artist shows”. In 2007 he has toured with the well-known Italian artist Pino d’Angiò, the “RHYTHM & SOUL MUSIC AWARD” winner (June 2003 USA - ATLANTA) and the only European artist appearing in the DVD “WORLD TRIBUTE TO THE FUNK” (Sony Music - Paris - April 2003). In the same year Simone has also toured as a bassist, arranger and backing vocalist with famous pop/rock Italian artist Antonella Bucci, well known for her duet with Eros Ramazzotti in the hit song “Amarti è l’immenso”. With Antonella Simone has opened for important Italian acts such as “O.R.O.”. In 2008 Simone has toured again as a bassist, double bassist and backing vocalist for Antonella Bucci and Luca Pugliese from Fluido Ligneo.
In November 2008 Simone won the sixth edition of the “EuroBassDay Contest”, rewarded by some of the best international bassists such as Matthew Garrison, Jimmy Haslip, Tollak, Dario Deidda, Roberto Cifarelli, Dan Solo. During the contest Simone performed with such artists like Giovanni Giorgi on drums and Alfonso Deidda on piano Rhodes as well as opening for the “Matthew Garrison Quartet” with Scott Henderson, Kirk Covington and Scott Kinsey.
He collabore with “Blacksnow Project” and record “Reality Killers” (Horror Film - U.E.C. Productions) soundtracks. Soundtracks’ collect was out on the 2008 end of year.
About next summer 2009 Simone will tour with Antonella Bucci.
Now Simone is mainly working on his solo-project: some “bass&vocals” pop/funk songs defined by strong melodic patterns and virtuous bass lines.
