Simple's debut release "Songs From a Broken Hip" is a record we're very proud of, and one that, as the NC Triangle's 'Independent Weekly' describes it, "is unrelenting. A sturdy thrum of distortion rises and crashes in undulating waves, suggesting 90s dream pop acts like Luna and the Swirlies: Luna for the shapely, glistening hooks that dangle from the soft-hued hum [...]; the Swirlies for an undertow of chewy rhythm that tugs at the guitar, reining it in, turning it back on itself." We hope you like it.
Our lastest offering, however, is a live EP recorded at the WKNC 88.1 studios: WKNC SESSIONS LIVE. This record features 5 tracks and, to date, comes closest to capturing our live energy. Our honest opinion is that, if you don't like this record, then you just don't like us b/c this piece is as accurate reflection of our band as anything recorded to date....So please, give it a whirl and let us know what you think.
WKNC SESSIONS LIVE was recorded and mixed by Eric Scholz at WKNC and was mastered by Tom King at ex nihlo studios in Nashville, TN.
Simple's influences are various, but tend toward the indie-rock variety. Press has compared us to Joy Division, Dinosaury Jr., Sonic Youth, Television and The Who. Fans have dropped names like David Byrne, Sunny Day Real Estate, and Built to Spill as well...Please enjoy our music.
