Biography

Sky (New Age)

Sky was born as Ronny Roman Bunke in Ahlen, Germany in 1956.
At the age of fifteen he was a drummer in a three piece rock band.
In 1973 Sky met Memphis Slim at the Montreaux Jazz festival
and set his sight on music and traded his drums for a classical guitar.
In 1978 he met New Age musician Deuter and found inspiration to create this kind of meditative music as well. Sky chose his name in 1985. His multifaceted musical interests include classical and baroque music, symphonic rock, oriental hued meditation, lively pop and world.
Sky's debut album ‘Dreams’ was released in 1988. After recording five CDs between 1988 and 1994, Sky began touring throughout the United States and Canada. Among his performances are Kent State University in Ohio and the High Art museum in Atlanta. In 1999, he finished ‘Union,’ his sixth Studio CD. Since then, Sky has been composing and recording new music, including the symphonic work ’ Love in Grace.’ Sky now lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
“Sun and Rain” from the CD ‘Born in Silence’ (1989) as a classic
New Age piece by TIME LIFE and the CD ‘Dreams’ (1988) has become a classic of the ambient/electronic genre.

A symphonic/New Age work. Orchestral instrumentation, bouzouki and synthesizer. It is not a light work leaning more towards the B flat minor key, a key that is said to be a 'dark' key, "the feeling that you get when you are all alone"...

Khemennu, Land of the Moon
1992
Music to harmonize Spirit & Earth. As a gesture of gratitude, the edge of the CD was embellished with a prayer. Sky compared the function to that of a Tibetan prayer-wheel: Each turn of the CD would release a prayer for the benefit of the listener.
