Slant of Light

Biography

Slant of Light has undergone various member changes over a number of years. In October 2009 when M.E.Foley and Aaron Zak began to work together, they immediately clicked— and within a month had recorded demos for 17 songs. The "Bare Bones" seven song EP came from those sessions, with overdubs from local musicians such as Adam P. Franks, Audrey Ryan (accordion), and Mike Nolan (harm).

Lauren Parker joined in February 2010, adding in bluegrass and blues guitar stylings. In July-September 2010, "Treading Water" was recorded and mixed at New Alliance East by Ethan Dussault, and mastered at New Alliance East Mastering by Rob Gonnella and Nick Zampiello.

They're currently a three-piece consisting of Foley on guitar and vox, Kevin Harvey on standup-bass, mandolin, and harmonies, and Aaron Zak playing drums, banjo, and harmonies (all at the same time, believe it or not). While the three members hold very different musical tastes individually, together they create a unique blend of rock, Americana, bluegrass and folk, with original songs influenced by the likes of Tom Waits, Devil Makes Three and Gillian Welch.

With an East coast tour under its belt, Slant of Light is now working on a third record, restructuring its set for Boston area shows.
