Once regarded as one of the premier live acts in Blackburn, Lancashire (of "A Day In The Life" fame, although we didn't come from a hole!), Some Have Wings formed in 1995 as a diverse quartet of musicians from various backgrounds. Over the next four years we built up an enthusiastic following, playing regularly in the town's music venues, as well as at private parties and occasionally venturing out to other venues including the Boardwalk in Manchester and the Greenbelt festival.
We recorded a number of demo tapes during this period, before hitting the studio in Summer 1998 to record our piece de resistance, the full-length CD "Just For The Laugh". Sadly, the next year saw the band's rollercoaster journey stall - growing tensions within the band and the pressures and commitments of university and work life resulted in Martin departing following the Boardwalk gig (he was replaced temporarily by Paul Snape), and then later that year the remaining band members deciding to put the band on indefinite hiatus. Until now...
The band members stayed in touch with one another, and in November 2011 the original line-up are playing their first show together in over 12 years, in Preston. Life has very much moved on, with John and Alastair now living and working in London, Cindy as a working mum in Lancashire and Martin as a struggling musician in the Potteries. But in rehearsal for what was originally intended to be a one-off reunion gig, the energy was present in such force that it was an inevitable and unanimous decision to put the show back on the road.
