Spider lilies is electronic dark rock with female vocals and guitar. Songs range from somber to danceable, with crunchy guitar riffs and beats that inspire movement. EBM-influenced synthesizers and drums, along with samples and effects make the music club friendly. Symphonic elements include electronic orchestral samples and authentic recorded violin. Female vocals are lush and often layered with harmonies and counterpoint.
Spider Lilies is led by Stacey Campbell, a former guitarist/backup vocalist of the Cruxshadows. The project began in 1999, but was put on hold while Stacey recorded and performed with the Cruxshadows, touring the U.S, Europe and Scandinavia extensively. Stacey revived the Spider Lilies in 2003.
Many important contributions have been made to the project by various talented artists. Dawn Perego gave special production support for the first two releases - a 3-song Limited Edition EP, in August 2005, and the full-length album “In the Light,” released in 2006. Also in 2006, William Smith joined the Spider Lilies as lead guitarist and co-writer, followed by Kevin Smith who performed as the live keyboardist until 2009, followed by Connor Clay.
Now based in the Washington DC area, the band continues to perform with a 2-person live lineup, including Chad VanPelt, also known as DJ Rift in the Charlottesville, VA and DC goth industrial club scene.
The Spider Lilies have toured throughout the eastern, central, and southern regions of the United States, and have gained international recognition for their music, which is a blend of rock, darkwave, electro, and goth, featuring female vocals, guitar, electronic rhythms and samples.
The band released a second full-length CD, "Cyclogenesis," in 2009, and a remix disc "Eyes of the Storm," in 2010. The remix disc includes tracks by Clan of Xymox, Imperative Reaction, Ego Likeness, Bella Morte, XP8, Espermachine, an original track mixed and produced by Dan Clark of the Dark Clan, and more!
