Steam Theory is an original Instrumental recording project by Jason Denkevitz. The music seeks to evoke different stories and emotions without the use of lyrics. The listener is invited to imagine their own settings for the music. Jason writes, arranges, performs and records the music, and sometimes brings in guest musicians for different songs.
The first release 'Enduring Delirium' (2010) is focused on progressive rock.
The second release entitled 'Helios Rider' (2012) has a more instrumental rock/americana/southern rock feel, with heavy doses of prog.
The third album, entitled Asunder (2015), is a double cd, and is focused on more expansive arrangements incorporating orchestral instrumentation in coordination with traditional rock instruments (guitars, bass, drums). The album is a mixture of Prog, Classical, Fusion, Metal and World music.
There is also a Steam Theory Band, made up of Jason on guitar/synth and various other Baltimore/D.C.area musicians. Past and current musicians have included Michael Esposito, Nils Schwerzmann, Keith Misemer, Roger Stewart, Nick Costa, and Dave Klappenburger.
