Stéphane Tétreault, 18 years old, was the First Prize winner in the Montreal Symphony Orchestra Standard Life-OSM 2007 Competition as well as semi-finalist at both the 2008 Stulberg International String Competition and the 2009 Johansen International String Competition. He placed in the top 20 at the 2008 Geneva International Cello Competition in Switzerland and was selected to participate at the prestigious 2009 Rostropovich Cello Competition in Paris. Stéphane was the youngest participant – personally selected by Michael Tilson Thomas – to participate in the YouTube Symphony Orchestra, which performed at Carnegie Hall in New York. Stéphane has been selected to participate in the Tchaikovsky International competition that took place in Moscow last June.
In 2012, Stéphane will perform Antonin Dvorak's Cello concerto with l'Orchestre Métropolitan and Tchaïkovsky`s Variations on a Rococo Theme with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. He will also perform André Prévost's Menuhin: Présences with the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne (NEM). Last October, he shared the stage with the violinist and conductor Maxim Vengerov for I Musici de Montréal's Gala Concert - a performance which garnered great critical acclaim from the Montreal press.
Recently, Stéphane has been named Révélations Radio-Canada 2011-2012 in classical music.
Stéphane began playing the cello at the age of 7 and is currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree at the University of Montreal with Yuli Turovsky.

Stéphane Tétreault, 18 ans, est le lauréat du Premier prix au concours de l’Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal Standard Life-OSM 2007 ainsi que demi-finaliste au Stulberg International String Competition en 2008 et au Johansen International String Competition en 2009. Il s’est classé dans les 20 premiers au 63e Concours de musique de Genève et il a été sélectionné pour participer au prestigieux Concours de violoncelle Rostropovitch 2009 à Paris. En avril 2009, il fut choisi d'office par Michael Tilson Thomas, le plus jeune élu parmi 3000 musiciens à travers le monde pour participer au YouTube Symphony Orchestra qui a eu lieu au Carnegie Hall de New York. Cette année, il a participé au XIVe Concours International Tchaïkovski qui a eu lieu à Moscou en juin.
En 2012, il sera soliste invité de l’Orchestre Métropolitain dans le Concerto pour violoncelle et orchestre d’Antonin Dvorak. Il interprétera aussi les Variations sur un thème rococo de P.I. Tchaïkovski avec la Philharmonique de Malaisie ainsi que l'œuvre du compositeur André Prévost, Menuhin: Présences avec le Nouvel Ensemble Moderne (NEM) sous la direction de Lorraine Vaillancourt. En octobre dernier, il a partagé la scène avec le violoniste et chef d'orchestre Maxim Vengerov lors du concert gala de l’orchestre de chambre I Musici de Montréal. Cette prestation lui valut d'ailleurs les éloges de la presse montréalaise.
Récemment, Stéphane a été nommé Révélations Radio-Canada 2011-2012 en musique classique.
Stéphane étudie le violoncelle depuis plus de 9 ans sous la tutelle de Yuli Turovsky et poursuit présentement un baccalauréat en interprétation à l’Université de Montréal.
