STEVE LALOR
PERFORMING AIRS ON THE SIX AND TWELVE STRING GUITARS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“…musicianship that crackles with experience…” This quote is from Seattle’s Bumbershoot
Festival description of one of Steve’s performances. Gathering instrumental material from
such diverse sources as Johann Sebastian Bach, Joan Osborne, Turlough O’Carolan and The
Scots Guards, as well as original compositions, Steve’s guitar stylings weave a melodic tapestry
that transports listeners to the realm of the muses.
His musical background includes participation in the Driftwood Singers, featured on
KING-TV’s Seattle Center Hootenanny and San Francisco’s hungry i. He also originated
Seattle’s seminal folk rock group, the Daily Flash, perennial headliners at the Bay area’s
psychedelic mecca, the Avalon Ballroom, as well as L.A.’s Whisky Au Go Go.
At this point in his journey his music has been influenced by every act he has shared a billing
with, and that includes everyone from Louis Armstrong to the Yardbirds, with Tim Leary in between. With such a diverse bag of resources from which to draw, he is able to reflect these influences, infusing Bach cantatas with the dynamics of The Byrds.
His recording credits include Parrot, Uni, MGM, Rhino and Psycho records.
