Steve Nelson

Biography

Veteran songwriter Steve Nelson has enjoyed an eclectic and award-winning career along the road from New York to Los Angeles to Nashville. Bringing his unique and carefully honed craft to many of the top performers, he's written songs for everyone from Barbra Streisand to Guy Clark, Dusty Springfield to Paul Anka, Big Bird to Winnie-the-Pooh. His TV credits also include Disney's Darkwing Duck, ABC's Webster, PBS's Sesame Street (for which he received an Emmy Nomination), as well as music written for Cheers, The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, and numerous other shows.
In the last decade, Steve has returned to his roots as a singer-songwriter. His music is not like anything you've ever heard, yet at the same time it feels like you've known it all your life. You can hear the influences he's honored throughout his career: from Woody Guthrie and The Weavers, to the Beatles and Paul Simon, from Rodgers and Hammerstein to James Taylor and Randy Newman.
His career-spanning performances include many of his already well-known compositions, but he also draws on a body of exciting new material from his two CD's "Distance Over Time" (2006) and "Listen What The Katmandu" (2003), as well as the soon to be released "Stoneway Close."

Steve now makes his home in Easthampton, Massachusetts.
