Stillborn With Apples are an Electronic ambient duo who play intense perhaps confrontational music without necessarily resorting to the prevalent ‘doom’ or ‘dark’ subgenres. Incorporating elements of cinematic and warped animal samples underpinning by flowing classical instrumentation, elements of melody are elongated beyond recognition to become movements and ambient field recordings encourage a sense of place.
Rather than create music that avoids concepts of place, locality and reflexivity Stillborn With Apples wants to do the opposite, namely create music that delves into those themes and present aspects of culture, locality and nature as an integrated evolving whole.
We’re not a political group per se but there is a concern in our music with the dialogue between escapism and transportation, between the tourist and the activist and between the globalist and the international localist.
Live, we’re two passport ready London residents who have two laptops. We work closely with video visual artists Quadratura when designing/performing installations but for touring purposes the group consists of just us two.
