Stinger and their album "Cold as Stone" have a lot of history!!!! These are songs from Michael R. Stevenson's early glory days with his first band, Intensity. Intensity featured Tim Donahue on drums (former Yngwie Malmsteen, Toby Mac, and Cherry Poppin' Daddies drummer). Local Guitar Hero and Z-Rock Joe Satriani National Guitar Competition Winner Michael R. Stevenson was Lead Guitar and Songwriter. The great vocals of Ken Whetstine, and rock solid bass of Kevin "Bullet" Piatt rounded out the formidable band. Intensity eventually opened for Quiet Riot, Yngwie Malmsteen, Edgar Winter, and Ace Frehely (with Chad Cummings on Drums).
The band split in 1996, but the great riffs remained. After a lengthy hiatus, Stevenson re-recorded the material in 2012 with drummer Ron Brett and the shot in the arm of David Nelson's phenomenal vocals. Nelson himself was a standout vocalist with Northwest rockers Ravish in the 80's. With Nelson's great style, high range, melody and timing now in the mix, the album achieves the original vision Stevenson had for the music in the late 80's. Stevenson's trademark unbelievable guitar solos and hook filled rhythms combine with the vocals and punchy drumming for a true classic must-have release for fans of Scorpions, Deep Purple, Dokken, and other 80's Melodic Metal/Hard Rock Bands.
