Old Dixie Highway

I was driving down that old Dixie highway
When I started to remember the girl I had left behind
I was driving down that two-lane black top highway
There was only one girl I couldn’t get off my mind

When I said that I’d coming back I thought it would be sooner
And I meant it when I said that she would always be the only one
I’ll be by her side when my journey here is completed
And this old dixie highway helps me find my way back home

When the DJ played those old familiar loves songs
I could remember the times we had before
When he started to play those lost and lonely sad songs
I knew only one girl had my heart for sure

Yes, I finally met a girl who makes me want to never quit trying
And I meant it when I said that she would always be the only one
I’ll be by her side when my journey here is completed
And this old Dixie highway helps me find my way back home

Lonely, I feel so lonely that I just don’t know
How much more of being away from her, I can take

I was driving down that old Dixie highway and
I could picture that woman standing at our front gate
You know I have to make a living but still it makes me wonder
How can any man in love deserve such a lonely fate?

These working wheels keep pushing me to go forward
While her love keeps pulling me back, where I belong
I’ll be by her side when my journey here is completed
And this old Dixie highway helps me find my way back home
My way back home, my way back home
