Strawberry Hill Fiddlers

Biography

The Strawberry Hill Fiddlers are classically trained string players from middle and high schools throughout the Hudson Valley, New York.
The group meets weekly to learn fiddle music the way it is traditionally passed along: by ear rather than written music. The fiddlers' repertoire of folk tunes from around the world ranges from Country Western, Cajun and Appalachian to Celtic and Scandinavian.
The fiddlers experiment with harmony, improvisation, body percussion and clogging, and they enjoy creating new arrangements and teaching them to one another. Active in their own school music programs and in other community ensembles, they have also developed their skills in workshops with well-known artists such as Jay Ungar, Molly Mason, Bruce Molsky, Sandy Silva and Darol Anger.
In the spring of 2007 the fiddlers released their first CD, Evolution, and in the summer of 2009, they released their second CD, I Said Love!
