Greg is a natural musician and teacher. His musical ability is a true gift that is a rare find; able to just listen to the music and duplicate it.
Greg attended the UNCG School of Music and has taught guitar and bass locally for over 18 years. He was a member of the UNCG Jazz Ensemble and Greensboro Jazz Band. During his time at UNCG he studied both classical and jazz guitar under Mark Mazzatenta, Dr. John Salmon, and attended a Master Class with Al DiMieola. Notable musicians he was fortunate enough to spend time with impacting him at UNCG were Jazz Great, Herb Ellis and the L.A. Guitar Quartet.
Greg has performed with more than 9 local bands, six of them being original projects. Metropolis, Messiah, Diggin Taters and Benj-o-Matic were some of the most notable ones giving him the opportunity to open for such greats as Danzig, Soul Motor, Drivin N Cryin, Cowboy Mouth, Anthaneum and many more. He still performs in a local band 90 Proof voted 2nd Best Band in the Triad 2009 and in an Acoustic Duo Substentz, both with his wife, as lead vocalist playing original music from their cd as well.
Melissa comes from a musical family and grew up singing and playing piano. She was a member of the National Piano Guild and took vocal lessons from her mother who sang in the Winston-Salem Symphony Chorale. The young death of her mother derailed Melissa's musical plans and sent her to Florida where she hopped from band to band and learned a lot about the cover band music scene in the late 80's, early 90's.
Returning to her home in 2001 and meeting up with future husband Greg Stentz inspired her to write and venture back into the music world. She has been in 4 local cover bands in the Greensboro area, most recently 90 PROOF and the original project SUBSTENTZ. Her hard driving rock and blues vocals that can suddenly change to a Steve Perry, Journey Ballad is a wonder. Her vocal range can carry you from the low end of a Dr. John funk to the highest 80's hair metal, Journey or Pat Benetar. The original music brings a haunting edge to her voice that is truly unique and needs to be heard and felt.
