Dancier than your favourite uncle at your sister’s wedding, Sugar Wolves will have you out of your seat and cutting shapes before you even realize you should have brought a change of shirt. Since their humble beginnings as music students, good friends Daniel, Jesse, Jake and Brad have been refining their groove and injecting it into Sydney’s thriving live music scene, letting it trickle all the way down the South Coast and assemble a healthy following along the way.
The wolves came together in 2011, first under a different moniker, but have since distilled their homemade infusion of melodic rock and alternative pop to create a sound that takes their audiences on a sugary sweet journey and has Jeff Buckley howling with ecstasy in his grave.
Front man Daniel’s vocals ooze like toffee from the saucepan, complimented effortlessly by lead guitarist Jake’s rhythm and blues inspired riffs. Drummer Jesse and Bassist Brad are a match made in nirvana, shooting winks at each other from across the stage and filling out the bands colossal euphony.
The band can already boast gigs at popular Sydney venues Brighton Up Bar, The Lansdowne, FBi Social and The Metro Lair so it’s safe to say, these young cubs are a force to be reckoned with. If you aren’t already belting out their sophisticated yet provocative lyrics in your showers and cars, you soon will be.
