Suncapades is an Indie rock band from Toronto, Canada.
With leanings into post rock and pop. The band is fronted and lead by Tim Fisher.
Fisher who madly writes and records in his home studio has amassed a great deal of material in a short time.
With their self-titled and self released album from 2008 Suncapades hit the scene in Toronto with a live band made up on himself on guitar and vocals. Paul Hollier on Guitar and vocals. Jared Phillips on Bass and Shawn Park on Drums.
October of 2010 marked the last show with this lineup. Jared went on to start his own project and Shawn had new responsibilities at home as a father. Paul Hollier had also become a father in late 2009 all the while working with Fisher on home recordings. Paul also began to work on his own music project called Spindrifter.
With 2011 came new opportunities both within and without the band. Fisher embarked on a year project to write and record the next Suncapades album. Though many songs he had written in 2009 and 10 were shelved for another time. Fisher beleived that the new batch of songs worked well together on an album that feels much darker than a name like suncapades might suggest.
Everything Darker, an 8 song album is the result of a year long creative endeavor of writing, improvising, recording, mixing and some second guessing. Paul added some guitars on this album and was also a big fan of the songs throughout the process.
The album cover and back cover were snapped by Fisher in his neighborhood. The front cover features a Toronto sunrise on Bloor st. turned up-side-down. Paul also added his visual and graphic design expertise to help the album covers pop out.
There are a lot of contradictions in life. The world seems divided between dark and light. Left and right, and up and down. Like many of the themes of the songs. Everything darker by Suncapades either wants to shed light on these universal truths or perhaps black them out forever.
Suncapades – “Everything Darker” will be released on itunes and other online music venues in early 2012.
