Susan Mohini Kane

My name is Susan Mohini Kane and I am a classically trained soprano specializing in art songs and arias. I perform beautiful music with a crystal clear voice and an empathetic heart. Singing with impeccable technique I bring music alive with warmth and experience. I want to share my art with a wider audience and provide comfort and inspiration to ease daily wear and tear of life with each listening.

Kane’s solo CD recording or art songs and arias released in 2009 entitled A MOMENT OF JOY recorded with pianist Kristof Van Gryspeer has inspired these early reviews: “It sounds like springtime!” (Alfredo Garcia, Los Angeles) and “Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful...” (Vreni Naess, Chicago).

Susan Mohini Kane’s “crystal-clear voice and impeccable technique” (LA Culture Spot, May 2009) has captured audiences from coast to coast in performances of opera, operetta, oratorio, art song, and symphonic and chamber works. Her most recent opera role, Micaëla, in LA TRAGEDIE DE CARMEN, won her the above acclaim. Recent orchestral performances include the Dvorak TE DEUM with the Bakersfield Symphony and a Christmas concert with the California Philharmonic at the Ambassador Auditorium. Reviews from the Cal Phil performance of Musetta’s aria from LA BOHEME, and “He Shall Feed His Flock” from Handel’s MESSIAH highlight her “generosity of spirit and charm” as well as her “excellent performance.” Kane will be performing with the Bakersfield Master Chorale in a concert of Handel's Messiah on December 5, 2009 in Bakersfield, CA. Vocal chamber music and art song suit Kane’s lyrical voice. She performed Ravel’s Trois Poèmes de Stephan Mallarmé and Stravinsky’s Three Japanese Poems with chamber orchestra as well as songs by Schubert and Messiaen in the highly acclaimed Jacaranda Chamber Series in Santa Monica that has received great reviews in the Los Angeles Times. As a champion of both new music and music by women composers and Kane has had several pieces written for her, the most recent being Songs from the Long History of Happiness by Sara Carina Graef with texts by Michael Leunig that have been performed from Miami, Florida to Los Angeles, California. Kane's CD launch tour (Novemer 1-8, 2009 includes concerts in Los Angeles, Ft. Worth, and Chicago. Please see her website for more information: www.susankane.info.
