For over 30 years, Sweet Deliverance has been dedicated to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ through acappella music. Originally formed in the late 70’s as an acappella, southern gospel style quartet, Sweet Deliverance has transitioned from four members to the current seven and sing a wide variety of acappella music styles. Although the members have changed over the years, the tradition of tight harmonies and praise to the Lord has not.
Based in Northern California, Sweet Deliverance has released ten albums with newer albums consisting of primarily original works. Each album is composed almost entirely of new, original music written and arranged by all members of the group. Albums vary in style from Southern Gospel to Contemporary Christian, but keep the love of the music and the lyrical content shining through each one. Over the years their reputation grew and Sweet Deliverance had the blessing of singing at Spirit West Coast. The album titled Acappella Artists was produced in conjunction with The Acappella Company, and released on Word Records. After working with Sweet Deliverance, The Acappella Company said, “They do it better than most folks.” Their version of “Poor Wayfaring Stranger” won a Contemporary Acappella Society of America (CASA) award in 1997 for Best Gospel Song.
It is obvious that God has seen them through good times and bad, and they put their assurances in He who has given them the voices to praise Him. Sweet Deliverance continues to offer Him their lives, songs, and voices for the encouragement and the uplifting of Christ’s church. “It is our prayer that the gifts and charge given to us blesses people and moves them that much closer to the Creator. He is why we live. He is why we serve. He is why we sing.”
