Hip hop artist producer, emcee and DJ Tylerhipnosis is the go-to guy. His name Tylerhipnosis is derived from his father's African tribe the Tyler's and his belief in music as a state of hypnosis. Ty dropped the "y" to add the 'i' because "there is no 'y' in Hip Hop." Tyler started as a DJ at the age of 13 at a local record store training under DJ Madd of Maddwaxx Records and progressed to working in college radio a mere year after learning how to DJ alongside DJ Samps and producer 9th wonder. Tyler listened and learned and has created a style. As a sound design student at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Tyler began to develop and master his audio manipulation skills in a live setting. Tyler has always been celebrated by his peers as an innovator, he possesses skills and talents on the mic, the boards, and behind the turntables which sets him apart from your average rapper, producer, and Dj. Tylerhipnosis has his finger on the musical pulse of the 21-30 year old crowd. "It doesn't take me a lot to pick up a small amount of tools and make something major happen," says Tyler, " when I was 13-14 years old, I was competing with people almost twice my age...they looked at me as just being the young cat but I had killer beats and heavy hitting lyrics so they had to respect me." Tyler is now all grown up and ready for the world. His latest release, Robotics 3 off the Robotics Trilogy is a continued showcase of his production skills. Tyler's use of electronic sounding beats and his homage to the art of building robots is what gives the album series its name. Now, maturing by the day and having recently formed his own label, Audio Rule, he is Tylerhipnosis.
