Biography

“This is for my people on the nine to five, every day people on the grind to grind,” sings Taktile in the opening line of his single Nine to Five. Perhaps the every day persona is what makes Taktile such a relatable artist for fans of this emcee and producer. Those who “take notice,” as so eloquently demanded by taktile in song, soon understand what separates “Tak” from the pack. The listener is left to discover meaning in the undertone. Seldom does a sentence go without merit. Taktile has the rare ability to reach fans of alternate genre’s while maintaining the integrity of his own. He first launched his solo career in 2006 after a deal between Virgin Records and his group was disbanded. Ever-expanding the boundaries of his music, Taktile frequently writes and performs with a live band. Being an accomplished drummer himself, the rapper delivers a captivating sound that is a break form the norm.

On his journey, he has added notches to his belt by recording in the home of O.G. rapper Ice-T, facing off with Roscoe and working with two-time Grammy award winner Ted Greenberg. Available on iTunes, Amazon, Napster, Pandora and more; Taktile has three major releases accessible. More avid fans may also own singles from previous releases or side projects such as “Locksmith and Taktile.” Referred too by many as “Outkast Out-West,” the duo boasted instant on-line success with songs such as “Back to the flow” and “Let’s Get Carried Away.” Although content and the body of work are the focus for his music, Taktile’s 2009 release, “Windows Wide Open” proves he has no difficulty delivering a legitimate hit. During this release “Tak” teamed up with other artists in North Hollywood to begin what would soon become knows as “Tha Movemint.” Tha Movemint was a collection of solo artists defined solely by supporting one-another’s common goal to create music.

For the upcoming album “The Shallow End,” Taktile re-enlisted “Big Syd” and Ron "H-Factor" Holden to co-produce and co-write what sets up to be one of the best albums hip hop fans will be treated to in all of 2011. The single "Hollywood" (due out early March) kicks off the album with a swagger and energy that sets the table for fans to expect "Tak's" best offering yet. Taktile possesses every tool that an emcee needs to be great: Sharp hooks, profound lyrics and love for the body of work he delivers. In an era where music is more accessible than ever, it is a beautifully kept secret when an artist with this potential steps into the light.

Hollywood

Hollywood is not all palm tree's, bright light's and sunny day's. A golden ticket does not often mean a golden plaque. Grab your headphones on this track as taktile cynically depicts a dark intimate view of tinseltown, over H Factor production.
