Once upon a time there was a little lady who made a big noise . . . Straight from the New York City club scene, Tanya Tiet (pronounced: tee-yay), a petite young woman with a mischievous smile, packs a voice and an energy much larger than her physical stature.
Although she resides in Arizona, Tiet is far from just a local musician, having distinguished herself by completing multiple international tours and singing with international artists. In 2013, Tiet sang with the legendary band Sister Sledge on their European tour, playing sold out shows at 5,000-10,000 seat venues in cities including Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Frankfurt, Zurich, Paris and Marseille.
Also featured on this tour were funk legends Earth, Wind & Fire featuring Al McKay, Chic featuring Nile Rodgers and Kool & the Gang, who invited Tanya Tiet to sing on stage with them after hearing her perform with Sledge.
Success is no recent occurrence for Ms. Tiet. In 2012, she sang with R&B and television superstar Jamie Foxx at the Arizona Jazz Festival, performed in 2011 with Sister Sledge on a separate European tour and has played major venues in the United States including: House of Blues in Las Vegas and Boston and BB King's and S.O.B.'s in New York City and many others, opening for headliners such as Living Colour.
Whether on stage singing with another artist or performing as a solo artist, Tanya Tiet is known for always bringing a charismatic stage show and adding a unique feel, while maintaining the authenticity of every song. Her experience gives her a wide range of styles and allows her to sing almost anything, covering songs by Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Jill Scott, Etta James, Vivian Green, Maxwell, Sade and plenty more that even include the likes of Led Zeppelin and Parliament Funkadelic.
Her favorite opportunity over the past several years has been with Mothers Favorite Child, a Soul/Jazz project that started on the underground music scene and can now be found on cd and internet radio all over the globe. Tiet recently partnered with Paris Toon, the producer/creator of Mothers Favorite Child and recipient of Phoenix R&B Artist of the Year award in 2011, for a soon-to-be-released recording of her own. She continues to appear on various recordings.
