Originating from the San Francisco Bay Area, Taylor and 9th (aka T9) originally started as a garage band playing reggae & ska with brothers Nelvid Vidal (drums/bass guitar) and Nubal Vidal (rhythm guitar) joined by long-time friend Mario Lima (drums). They would soon enlist the guitar and vocal talent of Anthony Baucom, the percussive experience of Chris Trujillo and then rent a practice studio in downtown San Jose, Ca. on the corner of Taylor Street and 9th Street. They officially formed as a band in January of 2002 and soon after released their debut EP ‘Downtown’. After another year of wood-shedding and performing live, T9 released their full-length CD debut ‘Deep’ in 2003.
In 2007, Sabrina Houshmand added her lead vocal textures as well as her talent on the saxophone to the ensemble sound, utilizing her wealth of experience from musical theater. The band’s percussive synergy is rooted from Nelvid, Mario & Chris’ drumming experience in the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum & Bugle Corps as well as being seasoned percussion instructors that grew up playing together since 1990. Taylor & 9th is well known in the Greater Bay Area music circles and makes for a very entertaining live show of “groovy riffs, soulful singing and pure energy”.
