Terri McCoy is American by birth, Texan by twang, and Irish by family heritage and love of its language and music. She has had a passion for music for as long as she can remember, but specifically recalls as a child when her father brought home recordings of Irish music and song. This sound resonated with her and she was hooked!
Her musical background is varied and includes stints in musical theater and flirtations with swing and jazz, but she has always been drawn back to the sounds of traditional Irish music. She spent several years studying the Irish language so she could sing some of the most beautiful songs she has ever heard.
Terri settled in Alaska in 2000. She was delighted to find there a community of people who loved all things Irish. She is a founding member/bodhran player/singer in the "Back Alley Banned," which plays regularly in sessions and at festivals in and around Anchorage.
This album contains some of her favorite songs and features the talents of old friend and new.
