An old name meaning ‘knight’ or ‘warrior’, Thane seems a fitting moniker for an artist with the desire to be legendary.
Thane’s eclectic musical style draws from a mix of various inspirations including Boyz II Men, Michael Jackson, Seal, Nina Simone, Lionel Richie, Jarvis Church (The Philosopher Kings), C&C Music Factory, Simone Denny, John Legend, and Moby.
Thane won an Alberta Black Achievement Award for Amateur Performing Arts after being nominated by his influential high school music teacher. His single, “Anybody Seen My Angel”, was included on The Best of DropHit 2006 compilation and he was a featured artist on "The Kaave Show" hosted by Toronto personality Kaaveh Shoman, broadcast to millions of viewers internationally. In 2007, Thane received Toronto Exclusive Magazine Awards for Best Male R&B Vocalist.
Thane has recorded with musicians working with international artists like Fefe Dobson and received vocal training from top Canadian vocal coaches Lorraine Lawson (Popstars "The One") and Susan Dunstan (The Lion King, South Pacific). Thane is a member of The Songwriter's Association of Canada (SAC), SOCAN, and CARAS.
Thane released his debut album Palace of Love in 2008, a collection of neo-soul infused pop tracks, followed by video “Walls” in 2009 featuring the album’s fourth track. His music has charted on international dance radio including Zfm (Australia), RadioGaga (Italy), Italia Network Radio (Milan, Italy), KCLAFM and Electro IM Radio (Los Angeles), Twisted Energy (UK), and Zenfm (Belgium). He has received acclaim, reviews and interviews by music critics in Canada, Japan, The US and Europe and performed at venues including Revival Nightclub, El Mocambo, The International Centre, Kokkino Lounge, The Rosza Centre, The Jupiter Room (Montreal), The Calgary Centre for the Performing Arts, and The Drake Hotel.
Music has always been an integral part of Thane’s life, growing up influenced by his parents’ album collection spanning diverse genres including pop, classical, folk, reggae, calypso, soca, and disco. With later influences drawn from the hypnotic grooves of the nightlife scene, Thane is now embarking on a foray into the world of electro pop and soulful house music, influences that feature prominently in current and upcoming crossover releases sure to set international dance floors ablaze! Thane recently recorded with Sub Level Music producer Joe De Simone (Amanda Morra) on debut dance release "London Town (Joe De Simone Club Mix)" now available on iTunes and several other major online distributors. "London Town" is licensed to DMX Music and in rotation on H&M USA's instore playlist.
Other collaborations include DJ Pluto's deep house remix of "London Town" and "Nightride" by Montreal's Block 35. Thane just released his newest single "Push Me" in collaboration with Italian producers 2BigLazy, released by Bliss Corporation/Green Park Records (Eiffel 65).
