With a voice described as powerfully soulful and uplifting with a tone rich, warm, and smooth as liquid gold, pop artist Thane is a rising star in the making, ever growing, ever evolving. An old name meaning ‘knight’ or ‘warrior’, Thane seems a fitting moniker for an artist with the desire to be legendary.
Thane’s eclectic musical style draws from a mix of earlier and later inspirations equally as varied including Boyz II Men, Michael Jackson, Nina Simone, Lionel Richie, C&C Music Factory, Simone Denny, John Legend, and Moby.
Thane released his debut album Palace of Love in 2008, a collection of pop songs fused with a hint of neo-soul, followed by video “Walls”, in 2009, featuring the album’s fourth track. His music has received national and international radio play including Indie Mix Radio AM 1580 (Los Angeles, California), iRADIO LA (indie104.7FM) and more recently Toronto’s CHRY 105.5FM and CKUT 90.3 fm in Montreal. He has received acclaim, reviews and interviews by music critics in Canada, Japan, The US and Europe and performed at venues including Revival Nightclub, El Mocambo, The International Centre, Kokkino Lounge, The Rosza Centre, The Jupiter Room (Montreal), The Calgary Centre for the Performing Arts, and The Drake Hotel.
In 2007, Thane received Toronto Exclusive Magazine Awards for Best Male R&B Vocalist and Best Website. His single, “Anybody Seen My Angel”, was included on The Best of DropHit 2006 compilation and he was a featured artist on "The Kaave Show" hosted by Toronto personality Kaaveh Shoman, broadcast to millions of viewers internationally. In 1996, Thane won an Alberta Black Achievement Award for Amateur Performing Arts after being nominated by his influential high school music teacher. Thane is a member of The Songwriter's Association of Canada (SAC), SOCAN, and CARAS.
Music has always been an integral part of Thane’s life, growing up influenced by his parents’ album collection spanning diverse genres including pop, classical, folk, reggae, calypso, soca, and disco. With later influences drawn from the hypnotic grooves of the nightlife scene, Thane is now embarking on a foray into the world of electro soul and disco house music, influences that will feature prominently in upcoming crossover releases sure to set international dance floors ablaze! Thane recently recorded with up and coming producer Joe De Simone of Sub Level Music on his debut dance release "London Town".
