The American Professionals
As always, The American Professionals make it their business to be the very best. 2010 brings us the new EP, “The Specialist”. The four songs (plus online bonus tracks) bolt out of the gate, lead by the title track, a bold blast of bravado posing as portent. “Jump This Train” begs to be followed to some unnamed better place, while “Down Low” probes the subtle comforts of knowing that there is, in fact, a bottom. “Yet Another One More Time” rounds out the release by reminding us that Sisyphus at least new what he was going to do the next day and didn’t have to worry about what to wear.
These days The American Professionals are indeed “a band”. After relocating back to San Francisco in 2007, singer and guitar player Chuck Lindo reunited with guitar player Mike Corcoran (Mike was on guitar for The Ampros first IPO Los Angeles appearance in 2004, but had to move to New Zealand shortly after). They recruited drummer Steve Moriarty (The Gits, St. Bushmills Choir) and were soon joined by Cheryl Hendrickson on bass (also in the Los Angeles lineup).
The band will be touring regionally and nationally throughout 2010 and have already begun writing songs for the next release. Unlike “Faking It” and “The Specialist”, the next record will feature collaborations between all the members.
