The Avengers

THE AVENGERS are ADAM HOLZMAN (keyboards), LINCOLN GOINES (bass), KIM PLAINFIELD (drums), and BELEDO (guitar). Performers and music educators, they are all Jazz-Rock-Fusion pioneers in their own right, bringing the artistic spirit of electric jazz to a new level for these inspirational times.
Their tour (2010) through South America included dates in Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay, where they appeared at the most notable jazz festivals, including Buenos Aires Jazz Festival, Montevideo Jazz Festival, and Cordoba Jazz Festival. The tour also included performances in the cities of Recife and Porto Alegre in Brazil, Minas in Uruguay, and Neuquen in Argentina. The tour repertoire consisted of original AVENGERS compositions, as well as selections from Adam Holzman’s 2010 release entitled SPORK, Lincoln Goines / Kim Plainfield’s CD, NIGHT AND DAY, and Beledo’s MONTEVIDEO JAZZ DREAMS. They also performed material from Adam’s tenure with Miles Davis. THE AVENGERS’ premiere CD, ON A MISSION has just been released (May 2012).
ADAM was Miles Davis Band musical director in 1988. KEYBOARD Magazine named him one of the top 10 players in the world, and DOWNBEAT Magazine lauded his "killer groove". He worked with Michel Petrucciani, Chaka Khan, Robben Ford, Wayne Shorter, Grover Washington and his own band, Brave New World.
LINCOLN is a faculty member of Berklee School of Music, and the Bass Collective. His Performances and recordings include an extensive list of artists, including Sonny Rollins, Dizzy Gillespie, Gato Barbieri, Dave Grusin, Carly Simon, Tania Maria, Paquito D'Rivera, Michel Camilo, Eliane Elias, Michael Brecker, Bob Mintzer, Dave Samuels, Mike Stern, and Wayne Krantz.
KIM’s numerous performance and recording credits include Bill Connors, Tania Maria, Didier Lockwood, The Pointer Sisters, Jon Lucien, Andy Narell, Kenny Rankin, Edgar Winter, and Bill O'Connell. Kim also has a solo career, touring Europe and Japan since 1993. His debut CD “Night and Day", was released in 2002. Kim’s latest recording “Jacob’s Ladder”, is scheduled to be released in the spring of 2011. He is currently an associate professor at Berklee College of Music in Boston, in addition to being faculty head at The Collective in NYC.
BELEDO is considered a real myth among Uruguayan music connoisseurs. A guitar hero in his teenage years, he was featured in GUITAR PLAYER Magazine and JAZZIZ Magazine while playing in South America with Pedro Aznar, Ruben Rada and the band, Opa. His CD, MONTEVIDEO JAZZ DREAMS, features Stefon Harris, Randy Brecker, and Manolo Badrena. Beledo has also performed and recorded with Gary Willis, Anton Fig, Bakithi Kumalo, and many others.
