The Blue MUGs

Biography

The history of the Blue MUGs...So far…..

2008, in the mid-mountains two groups started without any knowledge of the other. One met at the Springwood and District Club and the other in Lawson.

Luckily, they met, and thus began what is now the Blue Mountains Ukulele Group, or, the Blue MUGs.

By March 2009 the numbers had grown to over 30 and, as the MUGs were having such great fun, the decision was made to get out and start performing. Our first performance was at a local School Fete. Six MUGs played seven numbers, twice, and felt very excited about it.

Now the MUGs play regular gigs at the Australian Arms, the Blue Mountain Hotel and the Nepean Rowing Club. We organise and promote the Blue Mountains Ukulele Festival and provide opportunities for ukulele players to get together at workshops and gigs almost every week of the year. We aim to bring the joy of playing the ukulele to as many people as possible and promote playing community music.

And now, our first recording, we had so much fun making it and hope you enjoy listening to it.

Why not pick up a ukulele and play and sing along.
