This is NOT your mama’s accordion band!...The excellent "kick-butt" reputation of The BluesBox Bayou Band has gotten around... they played their first high school spaghetti feed in 1996 and worked their way through the Mother lode hotel / bar circuit at haunts such as Wilma’s Blues Club and the Murphys Hotel. With many personal changes over the years the gumbo got really cookin’ when Pete Grimaldi, accordionist, vocals and songwriter teamed up with multitalented bass player, Julie Johnson and Jimi Hildreth, former Mayor of Sonora and Louisiana resident, on the rub board. Adding rock veteran Frank Grimaldi on guitars and new drummer Mike Farris, the band presents a very tight and powerful Cajun / zydeco swamp beat style you just can't sit still to. They made their first appearance at the Iselton Crawad Festival in 1998 and have been back ever since. They have expanded their fan base throughout Northern California at dance halls like the Ashkenaz in Berkeley and venues such as Monterey Live, Gilroy Garlic Festivals and the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee.
This promotional CD, Move Around / Family Bayou is their newest studio offering that crosses the line between American Roots, Cajun, zydeco and straight-up rock. We prefer to call it just what it is, "good fun music". It is a precursor to the next big CD production coming soon, so share this taste with your audience. The BluesBox Bayou Band has nurtured a strong following over many years and they are listening... Free MP3 downloads of "Move Around" and "Family Bayou" are available at their website: thebluesbox.net
