Cabin Project lead, Katie Sawicki, a New England native who, after touring the country for several years, now calls Portland, Ore. home. Formed in 2010, this group of friends and long-time collaborators all made their mark on Sawicki’s most recent release “the Cabin Project”. The live version of the record soon became the group itself. The Cabin Project—four members strong—incorporates layered vocals, intricate drumming, synthesized sounds, and haunting compositions stemming from a strong indie pop sensibility.
Hailed as a “Singstress, Songwriter, Lyrical Genius” (Encore Magazine), Cabin Project lead, Sawicki believes the group is a true sum of its parts. Vocalist Kristen Gass on keys and bass, hails from the music project- Sleepwalker- lending a haunting layer to the group. Adam Sweeney, on bass, vocals, and guitar, is backed by his own band-the Jamboree-when he is not contributing his folk rock roots to the Cabin Project. Zanny Geffel brings a unique percussion and drive with her stemming from years backing jazz, folk, and rock bands. Sawicki, a self-taught guitarist, vocalist and pianist, grounds the group’s vision, directing its musical momentum with narratives of love and social justice.
Onstage, this group is followed by an enthusiastic and warm crowd from Portland and around the country. Their self-titled record compels the listener to press the “repeat” button, with its complex layers, poetic lyrics, upbeat anthems and pensive ballads.
