The Dark Matter Trio

Biography

The Dark Matter Trio was formed by guitarist Jerry McGowan, bassist Drew Hall, and drummer Christopher Passante in September of 2009 through an advertisement that Jerry posted on Craig's List. After only a few months the band quickly coalesced and began writing songs. By March of 2010 they had over 16 songs in their repertoire to play live. In April of 2010 the band went into Jerry's home studio to record ten of those songs for their first album. The recording process took them through the summer and early fall of 2010.

At this point the recording seemed like it was finished and the band decided to focus on playing live for the next several months. When Jerry finally returned to the project to complete work on his guitar tracks, he decided that four of the songs didn't really represent what he had originally envisioned. He then sat down and rewrote those parts note by note through March of 2011.

In April, Jerry began the process of mixing and mastering the album. In late May, drummer Christopher Passante announced that he would be leaving the project. The band is currently seeking his replacement.

The name "Stelliferous" denotes a name given to the current era in which we exist in our universe meaning 'star-bearing'. This album represents a single, brief moment captured within that time. It is at once a record of the band's beginning, their present, and an enticing glimpse of their future.
