The Ditty Bops, also known as Amanda Barrett and Abby DeWald, have been writing and performing music together since 2003. They released two albums on Warner Bros Records and four independent records including the Grammy-Nominated "Summer Rains". Their most recent album "Jelly for President - Yes We Jam" is about their stuffed koala who ran for president in 2012. In addition to their musical endeavors they recently published 3 short stories and held two public exhibitions of their paintings.
The Ditty Bops have recorded with a variety of artists from Bob Dylan to Natalie Merchant. They were named one of Billboard Magazine’s Top Ten Green Bands for completing a 5,000 mile bicycling music tour across the USA. They have been featured on Late Night with Conan O’Brian, The Late Late Show with Craig Fergusson, The L Word, Extra, NPR’s All Things Considered, and A Prairie Home Companion. Their music has appeared on Gray’s Anatomy, Men in Trees, Ellen and in numerous films and commercials.
The Ditty Bops are a breath of fresh air. Combining styles as diverse as jazz, blues, folk and ragtime with honest (and often humorous) lyrics, the Los Angeles-based female duo is accessibly eccentric.
Guitarist Abby Dewald and Amanda Barrett (who adds the exotic dulcimer and mandolin fretwork) shine with earthy vocals that reach for ethereal highs.
-New York Post
“…Ragtimey romps through vaudeville-style pop, jazz-infected cabaret…The Bops are adventurous, spirited hybridizers, layering plinky dulcimer, mandolin and guitar under their jaunty harmonies, and they craft their songs the way tunesmiths used to do…the perfect soundtrack.”
