The Exiles is a collaboration between Tim Readman – composer, singer, guitarist – and lyricist Alan Millen, both lifelong supporters of Newcastle United.
Originally from the Northeast of England, Tim Readman has lived in Vancouver for the past 15 years, where he is an active participant in the local folk scene. For more on Tim, check out his website at www.timreadman.com.
Alan Millen was born in the same neck of the woods as Tim but grew up in Canada with a deep sense of Geordie heritage and a close affinity for all things Newcastle United, through good times and bad. He has lived in Switzerland since 1987.
Through the magic of the Internet, Tim and Alan hooked up in the summer of 2002, quickly developed a common bond and set out to celebrate their team and the Toon Army in song. One year later 14 completed tunes were in the bag. The songs feature Tim on guitar and vocals, with some fine accompaniment on violin, accordion, keyboards and more by multi-instrumentalist Victor Smith.
Soon they had a second CD ...and 50,000 in the Stands, with even more songs that celebrate the Magpies and all things black and white.
There's something for everyone here-even if you are nor a supporter you can still be a fan!
