The Fifth Season started back in 2001, after a lineup change they delivered a
concept album called “Stronger, Perfect”, both webzines and fanzines welcomed it
like something new in progressive metal, with no trace of submission to the big
fishes in the business, yet with a careful and respectful look to the glorious
seventies.
They played shows with some good boys from those days, like Nic Potter and
David Jackson from Van Der Graaf Generator, Mauro Pagani from PFM and
Rodolfo Maltese (Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso). With Rodolfo Maltese a friendly
collaboration went on for years and this took the band to rearrange “The Thaw”
by The Fifth Season and an unpublished song by the legendary guitarist with
whom the band played several “A Night With The Fifth Season” shows.
When Max “butch” Mangiagli and “Viking” entered the band a new breath
changed the patterns in composing and playing and the band took a straight and
powerful turn. While their essence, thanks to the dreamy Chris Grifoni’s guitar
playing, is still ethereal, they “moved to the big city” of alternative metal, with
rocky riffs and cocky refrains.
A new videoclip drawn by the skilled hands of Solobuio Visual Factory and a new
single open the gates to a new era for the band.
They will enter the studio in early April 2010 to record their new album, an
anticipated new style to be ready for jumping over the hill, still rough, stomping
and stronger than ever.
