The Fully Blown

Biography

Vocalist Joel Elder and drummer Mike O’Clock called the clubs of the Twin Cities home for years. When their jobs each forced them to relocate to Salt Lake City, they brought their influences from the Minneapolis music scene with them. Despite sharing a love for noise rock and having haunted the same shows back in Minnesota, they never met until Joel answered an internet ad for a singer SLC in late 2007. Joel began singing for a project O’Clock had started with SLC natives Mac Marshall and Eric van Staveren, and the four were soon joined by Caryn Larrinaga on bass.

Motivated by chemical imbalances and not afraid to mix and match influences, The Fully Blown has a distinct sound characterized by noisy guitars, frantic solos, and Elder’s blunt vocal style. Every song has a story, whether it’s based on a real-life encounter in with Iowa law enforcement or it’s a stream of consciousness held together by the pounding thread of the rhythm section. File under heavily medicated!

no-frills, no-nonsense rock band that you parents had frequently warned you about as a kid, worried that their thundering dual-guitar attack and wry lyrics would warp your fragile mind. Think old school Punk seeping out of Salt Lake City.
