The Happy Ending was formed in March of 2009 by a group of friends who had long been in the music scene, but had never had the opportunity to play together. When that opportunity came, however, they jumped at the chance (after years of talking about it) and quickly found the ease of writing that usually only comes with years of playing together.
They then spent the next 6 months writing, recording, and self-producing a 4-song demo to ship out to producers. Soon after, an experienced producer, Sean O'Keefe, (Fall Out Boy, Motion City Soundtrack, Plain White T's, Hawthorne Heights) showed interest, and The Happy Ending decided that if there was ever a time to take a chance, that time was now.
Working closely with Sean O’Keefe, the band spent October of 2009 in several studios in Chicago recording what would become bands first work: Where Words Leave Off. A seven song EP filled with hard-hitting rhythms, impossibly catchy guitars, soaring harmonies, and hook laden lyrics, The Happy Ending knew that they had something that “the kids” would love.
