The Hesh Inc.

Biography

After a long, strange trip commencing on the South Shore of Long Island and threading through places like the Borscht Belt, Jerusalem, the Sinai Peninsula, Judea & Samaria, the Golan Heights, Boston, Philadelphia, the Jersey Shore, and Southern California, bringing his various experiences and influences with him from each place, Heshy R now operates in the Greater New York Area with its take-no-prisoners urban grit.

Heshy came up through the East Coast club scene in places like New York’s Greenwich Village, Brooklyn’s Park Slope, New Jersey’s various shore towns, and Philadelphia’s Delaware Avenue and South Street. As founder and leader of The Hesh Inc., Heshy released several CDs, "Soul In Exile," "Soul In Exile 2: Jersey Shore Baby," and a best-of demo collection, "Everybody’s in the Money." As keyboard player, vocalist, and a founding member of Reality Shock, he released "There’s A Voice" and is currently at work on the band’s next recording. A regular at open mics throughout the area, Heshy befriended many musicians from diverse genres, which eventually led to a several-year stint with roots reggae band the Midnight Ravers, for which he was nominated for a local music award. Additionally, he played keyboards in three different Springsteen tribute bands, as well as 1970s-style disco and funk with Polyester in clubs throughout the Middle Atlantic area.

In LA in 2003 with no goal whatsoever of breaking into the movie business, Heshy managed to get one of his songs placed in the comedy "When Do We Eat?" with Jack Klugman and Lesley-Ann Warren. A gig with another Springsteen tribute band, coincidentally and appropriately named Asbury Park, led to an offer to be Ray Manzarek's keyboard tech for the new Doors' tour, but Heshy had to decline because of family and personal considerations.

At the moment, he is back in the New York area, gearing up for gigs as a solo singer-songwriter, putting a new band together, and preparing his next recording project. Whether solo or with other musicians, Heshy is performing a combination of new and old material with an updated sound, adding a new sense of experimentalism and greater fun to his vaunted East Coast earnestness.
