The Langer's Ball

Biography

The Langer’s Ball is a 2-piece Celtic Group that has been performing around the Mid-Western states since July 2007. Featuring Michael Sturm on guitar, mandolin & vocals, and Hannah Rediske on accordion and penny whistle, The Langer’s Ball performs a wide variety of traditional, contemporary and original Celtic songs and tunes. Since they began performing just over two years ago, they have played over 200 shows at various locations; they have opened for Toronto based “Enter The Haggis”, are regularly featured on podcasts from around the world such as Paddy Rock Radio, Celtic Roots Radio, 67 Music, Marc Gunn's Irish & Celtic Music Podcast and many, many more. They have been booked at the Iowa Irish Fest and the Irish Fair of Minnesota for 2 years running.

Their debut CD, "As I Roved Out" was released in July 2008. It is nearly an hour of great music arranged by the band. Jim Tarbox of the Irish Gazette says "(As I Roved Out) sets off on an assured set of both traditional and more contemporary songs that is a treasure from beginning to end.” It was also given a special mention for best CD's of 2008 by Paddy Rock Radio.

Now they are back with their follow-up album "Ships Are Sailing". This album pushed the envelope for the band, bringing in drums, bass, electric guitar, and guest musicians that bridge the musical divides. "Ships Are Sailing" features original songs by the band, as well as traditional favorites. Celtophilia.com calls it "...a CD that will be a standout in everyone’s collection for years to come."
