The Library Fairy ®

Biography

A combination of Mister Rogers, Dr. Seuss and Glenda the Good Witch, The Library Fairy® is touted as "Today’s storyteller for today’s children." She captivates by bringing folklore from around the world to life-- enchanting with narration, music and theatrical improvisation using an array of voices, humor and song. She also uses Spanish at times to tell her delightful tales. She charms children on television, in libraries, schools, theaters and book festivals, introducing a whole new generation to the ancient art of storytelling. She believes storytellers are the keepers of the culture and updates this art to promote literacy, diversity and self-esteem…all while tickling the funny bone!

The Library Fairy® comes from a lineage of vibrant word-weavers and learned to tell stories from a young age. Her grandfather was Irish and she remembers her grandmother sharing many poignant tales from her life with self-effacing humor. Her mother, Anne, also had a rich quilt of sayings for every occasion and a short story to match.

A recognized authority in the fields of storytelling and child literacy, she is among the distinguished professionals chosen as an approved, qualified Arts Education Provider sponsored by the Los Angeles Unified School District. She is a published author in the subject and has released her first children’s book entitled: The Magical Tree and Musical Wind. She has university degrees in English and Communications and is a high-profile partner with Reading is Fundamental of Southern California. Her travels have also taken her to England, Ireland, France, Austria, Switzerland, Germany and Mexico where she adopted elements from the local cultures, integrating them into her storytelling artistry.

The Library Fairy® is a magical mascot of books and stories and became the star of a pioneering pilot (for a television or DVD series) called The Library Fairy® and Friends, partnering with esteemed professionals in child literacy, education and folklore. This led to hosting a weekly audio storytelling series for children that recently acquired international distribution -- igniting the love of reading in children around the world.

Her motto? "Be the hero of your own story!"
