In the same way that Two Gallants took Americana and bluegrass from the deep south and transported it to trendy Los Angeles, The Lonely Souls have channelled the spirit of Ike Turner and Sam Phillips and found themselves becoming very popular in Belgium.
The Lonely Souls are the most exciting rock band your going to read about in the next five minutes. Here's why; Formed in the summer of 2008 to create songs in the style of the rock, blues and americana music they loved but felt was missing in their home city. The results were their debut album Move Your Bones.
Together they have opened the No Mean City festival in Glasgow alongside Gary Moore and Joe Bonamassa, where Blues Matters magazine claimed " Lovers Again wouldn't be a miss on a Black Crowes album " and played the ABC, 02 and King Tut's in the city. Rick Fulton, Daily Record claimed "If you like old blues given a modern feeling you could do no better than checking this band out. "
The boys have spent the last few years not only playing in and around Scotland performing gigs to appreciative audiences but also perfecting their homebrewed sound of voodoo rock and roll .The band's song writing consistently delivers to the highest standards and their reputation for live shows becoming "events" are some of the reasons that Brian Yule of Scottish and Universal newspapers claimed of The Lonely Souls "Comparisons to The Faces or The Band, wouldn't be misplaced but at the same time wouldn't be fair to the creativity and craft that The Lonely Souls display as they fuse serious rock blues and soul with humour and over the top Americana." The boys have also proved popular in Europe with their ep Deep Digger rather strangely selling well in Belgium.
If your still not convinced then take the advice of unsignedbandsonline.com who said;
"The Lonely Soul’s! What can be said about them! This has to be the most underestimated group of musicians I have seen to date, the charisma mixed in with presence and light hearted playful attitude made for a fantastic set"
The souls will shortly release their second full length cd "Vital Signs".
